Chapter 4 by CrawlingM CrawlingM

Who, where

Barry Adams, the office rat and casual nerd [p1 CrawlingMadness]

As the first to the table, Barry casually picks up the deck of cards and begins shuffling the deck. It's a fat pile of over a hundred cards, so it's not too easy, but within a minute he has a fine pile of shuffled cards.

Barry is above somewhat overweight with dirty blonde hair in his late 20s. He is wearing a pretty cheap suit with a white shirt and a blood red tie to do a casual Agent 47 cosplay, sans bald head and physique to kill anything but a big burger. He's got a degree in computer science and has gotten a job to pay off his student debt at one of your average corporations, fixing old code and trying to convince non-coding management to make better coding choices down the line.

He has friends... online mostly, and have gone on some dates through the years, but currently he barely has any energy for anything of the sort. One of the reasons being that he shares a dormitory with two other unfortunate male souls paying down their student debt.

At least this weekend will be an escape from the normal, hopefully letting him recharge his batteries along with like-minded people. Barry wonders if the owner of the booth will show up anytime as he picks up seven cards and sees their titles.

  1. Charmingly ugly male
  2. Gym bunny
  3. Princess
  4. Nurse
  5. Lumberjack
  6. Smallfolk
  7. Big Bimbo

Barry shrugs at the titles and reads a bit of the text. A tingle in the back of his mind says this is the sort of stuff you absolutely don't play in real life with people you know, and he should just put his hand down on the table and have a sip of his respite Coke from his man bag. Instead, he just shrugs and starts stocking the cards in various positions, pondering what would make for good pairs, good modifiers or keepers for an eventual end-game.

After all, most of the people at this convention are complete strangers, so just Barry say you're here for the seat, and you play the game as a trade-off.

As Barry has rationalized his way through a semi-decent excuse, he hears the sound of someone else entering the cubicle and looks up.

What's next?
